Job Description

Family Drug Support (FDS) is the leading provider of family support services in the alcohol and other drug (AOD) sector in Australia. It is a nation-wide caring, secular organisation providing non-judgmental, non-directive support and information for families and friends impacted by the AOD use of others. Services and supports are provided primarily by volunteers and based on recognised gaps in most AOD treatment and related services. FDS has successfully provided programs in this area since 1997.Find out more about FDS at www.fds.org.auAbout the Role:FDS is seeking a Chief Executive Officer to lead our national team. The position is based at FDS Head Office in Faulconbridge, NSW however some interstate travel is required. The successful applicant is expected to fulfil the dual purposes of being a leading advocate for FDS values and overseeing the governance, management, and operation of FDS. The CEO also works closely with the FDS Business Manager.Scope of Position: To publicly advocate the FDS Model of engagement with families experiencing drug and alcohol issues To publicly advocate a harm minimization approach to AOD use. To publicly advocate for families and friends of people experiencing AOD issues To act as the voice and leader for the FDS community To provide leadership and strategic direction to the FDS organisation as the national organisation for families experiencing AOD issues To support the ongoing effective operation, continuation, promotion, and currency of FDS policies, programs and services To provide a robust and evidence informed support service to the families and communities of Australia who are in need or crisis due to AOD issues. To ensure that corporate governance, risk management, quality accreditation standards, and fiscal management are effectively evolved, implemented and adhered to. To ensure that effective and appropriate relationships are maintained with all stakeholders (including funding bodies) Experience in strategic planning and day-to-day operational management. Previous experience in a senior executive role Commitment to harm minimisation Proven experience in leading, motivating and developing the skills of staff and volunteers. Highly effective risk, compliance and financial management skills. Demonstrated skills in advocacy, and stakeholder engagement.
