Job Description

Professional Service Review (PSR) is an Agency within the Health, Disability and Ageing portfolio responsible for protecting the integrity of the Medicare, child dental benefits, and pharmaceutical benefits programs (PBS). Established under Part VAA of the Health Insurance Act 1973, PSR''s role and powers, as well as its operational processes, are defined by legislation.The General Manager reports to the Director of PSR and oversees the Case Management Unit and the Corporate Support Unit.The Case Management Unit assists the Director, Associate Directors, Committees, and the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing (DA) in managing and progressing cases referred to PSR within key performance indicator targets.The Corporate Support Unit handles corporate functions such as executive support, governance, communications, parliamentary affairs, ICT, finance, HR, procurement, property, and security.Key duties of the General Manager include:Managing the overall efficiency of PSR and reporting directly to the Director, providing strategic, technical, and operational advice.Collaborating within the agency on governance, compliance, and whole-of-government matters.Managing agency risk, governance, and compliance frameworks aligned with government priorities and reforms.Leading the strategic planning process and implementing projects that support agency priorities.Building and maintaining high-performing legal and corporate teams with necessary skills and experience.Advising on governance issues such as privacy, FOI, contracts, procurement, and PGPA Act compliance.Modeling leadership behaviors consistent with the Secretaries'' Charter, APS Values, and Code of Conduct.Additional duties include:Leading the General Counsel, COO, and CFO responsible for respective units.Overseeing staff development, recruitment, and retention.Supporting the Director in strategic priority setting and resource management.Ensuring effective governance, business planning, and continuity.Providing expert advice on enabling services, corporate governance, conflicts of interest, and risk management.Serving as Chief Risk Officer and Chief Security Officer, overseeing risk and security frameworks.Fostering stakeholder relationships with the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing, and other entities.Representing PSR at forums, including Senate Estimates.Exercising delegated HR, financial, and disclosure functions.Participating in quarterly Audit and Risk Committee meetings and contributing to executive decisions. #J-18808-Ljbffr
