SESLHD is committed to enabling our community to be healthy and well, and to providing the best possible compassionate care when people need it.The position sits within the social work acute services team and will provide a social work service to patients and their carers in the community assessment unit, the emergency department and intensive care unit. The successful applicant will have excellent communication and time management skills and relevant experience and knowledge in aged care and trauma informed crisis support is highly desirable. As an acute services social worker you will complete psychosocial assessments, provide counselling around adjustment to illness, crisis and bereavement support, crisis intervention, referral to community services and discharge planning.Where You''ll Be WorkingPrince of Wales Hospital is a 440 bed tertiary referral facility with specialties unique to this campus such as spinal cord injuries and interventional neuroradiology. A new Acute Service Building opened in early 2023 with state of the art modern facilities aimed at providing an exceptional staff experience and enhanced patient and family outcomes. It includes an expanded Emergency Department and Intensive Care Units, a Community Management Centre, and replacement of multiple existing inpatient wards with contemporary facilities. There will also be new research, education and training spaces, including additional spaces funded by UNSW Sydney, to enable clinical innovation and research, biomedical engineering, and clinical translational research laboratories collocated directly alongside clinical staff providing acute healthcare services.The hospital is accessible via a light rail service which stops right outside the main entrance, along with a range of bus services.
