We strive to be influential in improving the lives of South Australian workers by supporting South Australias union movement, and advocating to government to influence policy in the interests of working people.About The RoleThe SA Unions Workers Compensation Service provides free dispute resolution and advocacy services to workers who need help with their workers compensation claims. The Advocate Assistant is a member of the Workers Compensation Service team. The Advocate Assistant will work closely together with the Coordinator, Advocate, and other team members to collaboratively determine workload and organisation of tasks to ensure the highest possible standard of service to the clients of the service. They will be supported by another Advocate Assistant and two Information Officers.The Advocate Assistant WillProvide high level administrative assistance to the Advocate and Coordinator, which may include:Creating and lodging applications and notices with South Australian Employment TribunalPreparing, sending and following up of medical report requestsMaking and managing external appointmentsMaintaining a diary of all SAET attendances for the Advocate.Maintaining records of calls and queries on a database.Arranging client appointments, including the preparation and management of client files and records.Arranging medical appointments for clients, including following up with services providers after appointments to ensure evidence is obtained before SAET attendances.Preparing trial briefs and arranging their delivery to counsel.Provide general advice and undertake new client intake as required.Ensure eligibility criteria is met, refer workers to the Coordinator / Advocate for representation, and identify possible issues with legal merit as required.Ensure that clients are provided with all evidence obtained from other parties to their disputes in a timely manner.Attend to invoicing, debt collection, archiving and other office duties as required.Create of statistical reports as required.Create and maintain WCS Procedures documents.Skills And ExperienceThe Advocate Assistant is a reliable member of a small team dedicated to ensuring injured workers are treated with dignity, supported financially, and assisted to return to the workforce as quickly and safely as possible after an injury. They are professional, responsible, and understand that different clients have different needs.
