We use the latest agile processes and industry best practices, leveraging leading commercial and open-source frameworks and tools.At a GlanceWe seek somebody with proficiency in PostgreSQL to join our team that works with PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL, and Oracle Databases.Our team supports a range of Defence modernisation programs. Candidates must be Australian Citizens and hold an active NV-1 Security Clearance with the ability to obtain an NV-2.Our team works closely with the broader Leidos (and customer) Technical Capability Teams.Location: Canberra or Melbourne - 100% from site.Full-time position - join the Leidos life days program and accrue up to 12 additional days of leave each year.Job DescriptionThe Database Engineer will join a team that manages defence databases'' security, performance, and compliance, ensuring they are both efficient and aligned with stringent security standards. We work within an ITIL framework for all work-related activities, including change, incident, and problem management. Responsibilities include:Database Design and Implementation: Installing, creating, configuring, upgrading, and monitoring databases to ensure optimum performance.Performance Monitoring and Optimisation: Regularly monitoring database performance and optimising queries for efficient data retrieval and storage.Database Security: Implementing and managing security measures to protect sensitive defence data from unauthorised access and breaches, including configuring firewalls, encryption, and access controls.Support for Application Teams: Providing support for database-related incidents.ITIL Framework: Working within an ITIL framework for all activities, including change, incident, and problem management.QualificationsCoupled with your education and practical experience, you will demonstrate a proactive approach, with the ability to understand the business, identify issues, and develop relationships to achieve the company''s objectives. You will also have:Proven experience administering, configuring, and managing large-scale database environments.Experience working with Microsoft Windows Server.Experience in High Availability and Disaster Recovery scenarios.Experience managing backup and restoration processes.Relevant certifications or professional memberships relating to PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL, or Oracle Database (desirable). #J-18808-Ljbffr
