The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring the well-being of children and young people in our care, as well as providing guidance and support to therapeutic carers and house supervisors.About The RoleWe are currently seeking a highly motivated and skilled Therapeutic Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring the well-being of children and young people in our care, as well as providing guidance and support to therapeutic carers and house supervisors.Duties includedTherapeutic environment: Work with the House Supervisors and Area Managers to ensure that the home environment is therapeutic and supports the young person. Ensure that the relevant budget is maintained per young person.Direct Engagement: Directly engage with the young person and/or ensure that therapeutic interventions and approaches from external providers are consistent with the goals and outcomes for the young person.Crisis Management and advice: Provide assistance in crisis management situations, working collaboratively with the team to address and de-escalate critical incidents in a manner that ensures the safety and well-being of all involved.Behaviour Support Planning: Develop behaviour support plans and therapeutic treatment plans, tailored to the individual needs of each child, promoting their emotional and psychological well-being.Developmental Milestones: Create and monitor developmental milestones for each child, facilitating their growth and progress in various domains, including physical, emotional, and educational.Specialised Training: Work in collaboration with the Learning and Development Coordinator to provide specialised training and guidance to staff, enabling them to work effectively withTransition in and out of Treehouse: Assist young people in transitioning in and out of our care, ensuring that they receive the necessary support and resources to make a smooth and successful transition.Data Collection: Utilise your expertise to conduct assessments at the beginning, during and end of each young person''s placement to track their progress and identify areas that require specific attention and support. Collect relevant data and use it to inform decisions and reports.Monthly reports: Prepare comprehensive monthly reports that document the progress, challenges, and achievements of the young person, offering valuable insights for ongoing improvement and decision-making.RequirementsTertiary qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or Mental Health Nursing.Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Therapeutic Care setting or a clinical environment working with children and young people in OOHC.A thorough understanding of the theories relating to and the impact of trauma, abuse and neglect on a child or young person''s development and well-beingThe ability to translate the theory into practice and lay terms in order to work with case managers and therapeutic carers to deliver therapeutic responses to children and young peopleDemonstrated commitment to working collaboratively, as indicated by effectively working in partnership with the care team and other key stakeholders to achieve the best outcomes for children and young peopleExcellent written and oral communication skills including timely and accurate assessments and plansUnderstanding of requirements of working respectfully with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and Culturally and Linguistically Diverse clients, communities and staffDemonstrated ability to flexibly manage competing priorities and stressful situations, monitoring own stress levels and practicing and promoting self-care strategiesCurrent Driver''s License (and access to a comprehensively insured vehicle)National Police Check (renewed within 12 months)First Aid QualificationCurrent Working with Children CheckHow to Apply:Starting ASAPReview the questions at the end of this document and submit your written responses through Bamboo HR by close of business on Wednesday 18th June.
