We are delivering high quality, customer-focused services, experiences, and facilities, and leading a program of strategic planning, activity and investment.Blacktown City Council strives to be an inclusive workplace for all people.We welcome applications from all ages and genders, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, people from culturally diverse backgrounds, the LGBTIQ+ community, veterans and people with disabilities.About the opportunityWe are seeking a highly motivated and appropriately qualified Team Leader Urban Precincts to join our team on a permanent, full-time basis.This fast-paced role is responsible for maintaining our formal gardens, waterbodies and catchments in councils high profile reserves.The preferred candidate will:Focus on the beautification of our premier greenspace areas, formal gardens, waterbodies and continuing improvement of the horticultural amenity of our public greenspaceAssist with the development and training of ApprenticesLead the Maintenance crews in the servicing and maintenance of our premier greenspace areas to ensure a high-level, quality horticultural service is performed and the landscape finish remains safe, attractive and inviting to use to our park visitors.If you''re interested in leading a small team to undertake the maintenance and landscape improvement works of our Urban Precinct areas, we would love to hear from you!Qualifications and experienceCertificate III in Horticulture, Parks & Gardens or related areaSolid experience in the preparation and maintenance of formal lawns, gardens, wetlands and aquatic garden areasSolid experience in leading a teamChemical Application AQF4Class MR drivers licenceRTA approved traffic controllers accreditationWHS General Induction Certificate (White Card)Knowledge of applicable legislation/regulationsComputer literacy in Microsoft Office, the use of tablet devices and the ability to quickly learn corporate applicationsDemonstrated commitment to customer serviceExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsGood verbal and written communication skills.Experience in liaising with contractorsExperience in the control of noxious weedsChainsaw operation certificate of competenceSenior First Aid Certificate.Remuneration and benefitsThe salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Councils Enterprise Agreement.Entry level for this position starts at $1,451.97 per weekRostered Day Off (RDO) every fortnightEmployee benefits such as leave entitlements (where applicable), 11.5% employer contribution payable to your nominated superannuation fund, Fitness Passport, gym membership discounts, and social clubs.Our commitment to safetyBlacktown City Council is committed to safety.
