Summary Provides police protection and enforces state and local laws, hospital policies, procedures, rules, and regulations. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent. Successful completion of the Ohio Peace Officer Basic Training Academy (OPOTA). Eligible to hold and maintain a police commission in Ohio per ORC 4973. At least 21 years old at hire. Valid Ohio Drivers License and compliance with Summa Fleet Insurance Standards. Active and current firearms certification per department and OPOTA standards. Active and current Conducted Electrical Weapon certification. Honorable military discharge can substitute for related experience. Higher education coursework in a related field can substitute for some or all required experience. Ability to perform physical activities including running, walking, and restraint. Ability to communicate effectively with visitors, staff, patients, and law enforcement. Maintain proficiency with firearms and self-defense techniques. Handle incidents confidentially with compassion. Must carry firearm as part of duties and obtain necessary training and certification. Ability to interact effectively with diverse populations, respecting their needs for dignity. Complete NVCI (Non-Violent Crisis Intervention) training within six months of hire and annually thereafter. Physical demands include exerting 25 to 100 pounds of force periodically.
