Behavioral and Transactional Monitoring Risk and Compliance role - SydneyAbout Our ClientThe client is seeking a professional to foster a supportive environment where customers can engage responsibly.Job DescriptionBehavioral & Transactional Monitoring: Analyze player behavior and transaction data to identify warning signs of risky gambling (e.g., chasing losses, extended play). Use insights to trigger early interventions and support tools.Collaboration with Operations: Work closely with venue managers, gaming staff, and front-line teams to embed safe gaming practices. Provide expert guidance on identifying at-risk customers and offering assistance.Design Safe Gaming Environments: Develop signage, messaging, and communications that promote self-awareness (e.g., limit reminders, time-out prompts). Partner with marketing and venue design teams to ensure clarity and accessibility of messages.Staff Training and Education: Create and deliver comprehensive training for staff at all levels. Empower staff to have caring conversations about safe play and develop ongoing coaching resources.Data-Driven Insights: Lead analytics and risk tools to monitor gaming patterns (e.g., EGM usage, betting history). Report trends and metrics to senior leadership, highlighting opportunities for improvement.Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with regulators, compliance teams, and third-party providers to stay ahead of emerging risks. Represent the company in industry forums or regulatory meetings on responsible gambling issues.Innovation and Improvement: Stay informed on research and new technologies (pre-commitment schemes, self-exclusion platforms, facial recognition, etc.) to enhance programs. Lead projects to implement harm-minimization tools.The Successful ApplicantDeep Sector Knowledge: Experience in the hospitality and wagering industry, including pubs, clubs, TAB, sports betting, and casino operations. Familiarity with daily operations (staffing, customer flow, EGM management). Experience with large multi-site operators (e.g., Endeavour Group) is highly regarded.Behavioral Risk Expertise: Understanding of psychological and financial triggers of gambling harm. Skilled in using transaction monitoring tools and data analytics to detect patterns like frequent high-stakes bets or unusual play spikes. Ability to translate data into actionable insights.Project Leadership & Communication: Strong project management skills and a flexible, innovative approach. Ability to influence and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.Education & Personal Qualities: Relevant tertiary qualification (risk, compliance, psychology, business) or equivalent industry experience.
