The role provides victims with early intervention, crisis support, information, referral, and assistance when navigating the forensic mental health system including the provision of information and advice to professionals assisting victims of crime.What Youll DoAs part of your role, you will provide the following support:Provide crisis support, information, and referrals to victims of crime where a serious offence has been committed by a person with a mental health impairment and/or cognitive impairment.Assist victims to participate in forensic review proceedings by providing necessary information to victims about their rights within the Mental Health and Cognitive Impairment Forensic Provisions Act 2020Support victims to provide submissions to the Mental Health Review TribunalAttend forensic review proceedings to represent and/or support victimsWhat Were Looking ForEmpathy and Communication - Communicate with compassion and clarity to support victims who may be experiencing distress or trauma, while actively listening and providing emotional reassurance.Legal and Mental Health Knowledge - Demonstrate a clear understanding of the Mental Health Review Tribunal processes, while guiding victims through their legal rights and supporting them throughout the proceedings.Advocacy and Support - Support victims in preparing and submitting necessary documentation and accompany them to tribunal hearings to provide representation or emotional support when required.Flexibility and Good Judgment - Remain calm and focused when managing shifting tasks and priorities, while exercising sound judgment to make decisions that align with legal requirements and support the best interests of victims.Essential RequirementRelevant qualifications in psychology or social work and/or relevant work experience.Ability to be rostered on-call outside of office hours (including weekends) to provide crisis support to victims. Calls to this service are low.Appointments are subject to reference checks.
