The project focuses on constructing solid-state electrolytes with high ionic conductivity, designing intimate electrolyte/electrode interfaces, and obtaining safer batteries. This will address safety issues faced by batteries based on organic electrolytes which are volatile and flammable, causing issues like burning or explosion.At the UTS School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences, we do research that matters, in an industry-oriented, multidisciplinary environment, linking fundamental research to practical problems. The School deliver''s research which has impact on these major challenges facing society, together with educated and adaptable students who can contribute to their solution in a collaborative program of engagement with employers, industry and government.About YouAs a Postdoctoral Research Associate, you will be a self-motivated individual with strong communication skills and willing to participate in research translation and working together with industry partnersThe ideal candidate will have proven experience in Demonstrated experience in inorganic and organic synthesis and characterization and proficient in materials characterization techniques, including SEM, TEM, XRD, Raman spectroscopy, and FTIR.This role requires someone who can inspire and guide the next generation of researchers while driving impactful research outcomes. Other requirements include:A PhD in Chemistry (or Electrochemistry), Materials Science & Engineering, Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering or a very closely related field.Extensive knowledge of electrochemical energy storage and conversion, in particular, rechargeable battery technologyStrong research and publication track recordAbility to secure competitive research grantsWhat We OfferBase Salary Range: $92,761 to $112,977 pa (Level A)This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension) in addition to the base salary.The position is full-time and will be made 12-month fixed term basis.UTS staff also benefit from a wide range of Employee Benefits include flexible work practices, child care centres, generous parental leave and salary packaging opportunities.How To ApplyPlease click the Apply link to be taken to the UTS website.
