This role combines line management and functional leadership, with responsibility for uplifting engineering practices across security, reliability, code quality, innovation, and team development. You''ll also work closely with peers across the Technology team to help streamline delivery and support a high-performing, collaborative environment.About the RoleKey Responsibilities:LeadershipLead, mentor, and manage a cross-functional engineering team (Data Engineers, Fullstack Developers, Report Builders, etc.)Ensure adherence across the team to data privacy, security, reliability, and overall quality standards.Provide outcome-based domain and thought leadership in the data space, across various functional teams and business units, including Application Engineering, Data Engineering, Data Science, Analytics, Digital Marketing, and others.Continuously uplift the engineering function of the Technology department across security, reliability, cultural, coding, delivery, and innovation pillars.Continuously uplift the Software Development Lifecycle processes and tools.Work closely with the Head of Engineering on recruitment and succession plans.Ensure good skill coverage of both hard, soft and domain skills across the engineering team.Provide escalation support when delivery projects or scrums encounter significant problems.TechnicalAdhere to data privacy, security, reliability, and overall quality standards.Apply solution design skills and input into architecture.Be hands on with code as and when required.Research and make recommendations for implementation of the latest technologies where feasible.Manage the ongoing modernization program of technical assets in the data domain, such as language/runtime support, infrastructure versions, patch compatibility, etc.BusinessLiaise with key business stakeholders.Continuously work to gaining an understanding of the outcome the solutions drive, working closely as needed with business end-users.Assist the wider business in key events throughout the year in a technical capacity, such as major hotshows and ingress support.Be part of our tomorrow!
