There are approximately 290 staff based in the 4,000sqm facility today, scheduled to grow to approximately 350 staff by end of 2026. Overseas on the ground presence includes Virginia (USA), Denmark, Germany and Dubai, as well as distributors in over 70 countries globally.About the roleDroneShield is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with relevant experience to join the team in Sydney, NSW.The position will report to Design Engineering Lead.This role will be responsible for developing and sustaining DroneShield products. This will include CAD development, working with suppliers, simulation and testing.Responsibilities, Duties and ExpectationsConsult with stakeholders to understand product requirementsDevelop andexecute design verification testing,plans and reportsDevelop mechanical solutions utilising CAD and produce BOM''s, manufacturable part and drawing packagesUtilise advanced analysis software and techniques to validate and affirm design decisions throughout the product development lifecycleInterpret and apply relevant standards to ensure compliance and quality assuranceLiaise with designers, electronics engineers and the NPI and manufacturing team to improve product quality, reliability, and manufacturabilityLiaise with suppliers in Australia and overseas to understand manufacturing capabilities and limitationsQualifications, Experience and SkillsBachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics,similar technical field of studyMinimum 3 years experience in a design/engineering role in a product design environmentProficiency in software tools - SolidWorks, SolidWorks Simulation, SolidWorks PDMExperience in conducting: FEA, FEM, Thermal Analysis, Structural Analysis,Vibration AnalysisSound understanding of product development and testing for high volume manufactureKnowledgein design for production processes including machining, sheet metal and injection mouldingA high level of competency in 3D CAD modelling and creating 2D drawings and specificationsHighly developed interpersonal, communication and collaboration skillsA high level of creativity and able to demonstrate strong problem-solving skillsA portfolio showcasing prior work is an advantageThe ability to work in a fast-paced environment, deliver and meet deadlinesKeep yourself up to date with the latest technologies, tools and methods to be effective in your rolePrevious experience working in Defence, medical, aerospace or consumer electronics is favourableNote for recruitment agencies: we do not accept floated candidates from external recruiters unless they were instructed to do so. #J-18808-Ljbffr
