SESLHD is committed to enabling our community to be healthy and well, and to providing the best possible compassionate care when people need it.The RoleThe Midwifery and Nursing Unit Manager Level 3 (M/NUM 3) provides nursing and midwifery leadership at the Royal Hospital for Women with responsibility for the management of Antenatal Ward, Pregnancy Day Stay Unit Close Observation Unit and Virtual Maternity Ward. The M/NUM3 coordinates the recruitment and supervision of the specialist nursing/midwifery team, performance development, strategic planning and implementation of safety and quality initiatives.The M/NUM3 is responsible to the Midwifery and Medical Clinical Co-Directors (Maternity Services) and the Director of Nursing and Midwifery Services and functions within the policies and procedures of the NSW Ministry of Health, Royal Hospital for Women and the Nursing and Midwifery Division.The Purpose Of The M/NUM 3 (Antenatal Ward, Pregnancy Day Stay Unit, Close Observation Unit And Virtual Maternity Ward) Is Tolead, direct and co-ordinate patient or client care through interaction, consultation and mentorship;ensure the practice of nursing and/or midwifery is safe and efficient, maintaining standards of care through continual quality improvement initiatives.lead and co-ordinate the nursing/midwifery and multi-disciplinary care team at the ward or unit level.monitor and manage the business and management functions and processes of the ward or unit.accountable for the implementation of clinical governance functions which adhere to best practice including risk mitigation, clinical risk review and clinical service planning.provide support for staff and maintain an environment that promotes skill acquisition and development, alongside personal and professional development of nursing and midwifery staff.Lead and direct change managementLead and coordinate the implementation of new and developing initiatives including new models of care, dynamic ways of working.As the leader of the unit, the NUM/MUM will demonstrate her/his capability through attitude, skills, behaviour and attributes, namely:broad nursing/midwifery experience and knowledge;understanding and acceptance that patients are the central focus of service delivery;professional integrity;ethical conduct;accountability;advocacy;enabling others;cultivation of collaborative relationships and effective team work;commitment to advancing the profession of nursing/midwifery and care provisionchange managementempowering a dynamic workforce across all areas of the roleSouth Eastern Sydney Local Health District is committed to equal employment opportunity and embraces diversity and inclusion within its workforce.
