We are a not-for-profit organisation that provides free legal services, including court and tribunal representation, welfare support, advocacy and community education to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander victims of family violence and/or sexual assault. Currently we have a vacancy for a Outreach Engagement Advisor in our Community Legal Practice for the Cairns Office.Please note, that to perform this role, it is essential that the person who holds the position be an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person and is therefore a genuine occupational requirement under section 25, 104 and 105 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (QldAbout the roleFacilitate workshops utilizing local traditional knowledge and practices, delivering face-to-face workshops and forums, building community capacity, and strengthening relationships with key stakeholders. Promote QIFVLS and deliver tailored programs, outreach, and referral pathways for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and individuals.ResponsibilitiesOutreach Engagement ActivitiesDevelop and manage local community partnerships in a professional and culturally appropriate manner.Develop community engagement strategic plans including contribution from Case Management Officers (CMO) and Community Family Advocate (CFA)Network and liaise with community organizations, mens and womens groups, government departments, and community justice groups to promote QIFVLS services.With Community Development Manager (CDM) oversight and pre-approval, represent QIFVLS within the region or community by attending and networking during functions, workshops and forums relevant to the function of the Outreach Engagement Advisor (OEA) role, in a manner consistent with QIFVLS professional standards and code of conduct.TravelSchedule and organize regular and extensive travel within the region, utilizing relevant forms and checklists, including submission of project plans a minimum of 4 weeks prior to travel.Proposed travel bi-monthly or an as needs basisReport directly to the Community Development Manager (CDM) on issues and challenges encountered during outreach efforts on unseen circumstances that can delay or prevent entry into communities, that impact on outreach activities.
