In this newly created role, you will be responsible for developing and executing a forward-thinking asset strategy that ensures our fleet and broader asset portfolio are fit for purpose, reliable and cost-effective, both now and into the future.This is a strategic and hands-on role that offers a unique opportunity to work cross-functionally with our Operations and Commercial Finance teams, as well as external regulators and suppliers. Your ability to drive innovation, foster collaboration and influence decision-making will be essential in optimising asset performance, minimising downtime, and enhancing overall business efficiency.In this role, you will: Develop and implement a comprehensive asset management strategy, aligning fleet performance with business goals. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure assets meet operational needs and support productivity. Lead procurement and disposal processes for assets, with a focus on fleet equipment. Support asset tracking and ownership models, ensuring clarity and accountability across locations. Partner with the Fleet Maintenance Coordinator to assess and enhance current asset performance. Provide strategic leadership, managing change and cultivating a high-performance, safety-focused culture. Supporting new project rollouts, process improvements and employee engagement. Ensure compliance with technical and legislative standards, embedding safety across all asset operations. Oversee maintenance systems and reporting tools to enable data-informed decision-making. Maintain compliance with the Asset Management Accountability Framework (AMAF). Prepare robust business cases, budget bids and long-term asset lifecycle plans.About you:You are a seasoned leader with a deep understanding of asset or fleet management and a passion for driving continuous improvement. You possess strong stakeholder engagement skills, thrive in collaborative environments and bring strategic insight to operational challenges. Tertiary qualifications in business, asset management, or a related field. Experience in a similar position within a medium to large organisation. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement asset and maintenance strategies. Experience in asset procurement and compliance with relevant policies and procedures. Strong leadership capabilities across multidisciplinary team. Sound knowledge of asset management standards and lifecycle planning. Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, with proven stakeholder engagement experience. Proficiency in maintenance management systems, data analytics and reporting tools. Experience working in government or regulated sectors is an advantage. Familiarity with the Cemeteries Act, relevant legislation and government policies desirable.
