Yarraman Park located in Scone in the Hunter Valley is currently seeking highly experienced and capable staff to join our team on a full-time basis.Positions available include:Horse Trainer/Breeding Foaling Manager Duties will include:Training broodmares and young stockMonitoring and handling of mares imminently in foalFoaling, including pre- and post-natal care of broodmares and foalsMonitoring mare ovulation and pregnancyEarly education of foals and young stockEducating and preparing weanlings and yearlings for saleOverseeing daily care and supervision of horses and staff supervision where requiredAssisting Veterinarians with ultrasound/reproduction examination including assisting in birthing foals and administering medical treatment to foalsHorse Trainer/Breeding - YearlingsDuties will include:Training and preparing horses for major salesEducating horses to be groomed and accept bridle, head collar, rug etc.Teaching horses to walk, stand and parade correctlyParade and caring for horses at salesOverseeing daily care and supervision of horsesRe-educating horses to resolve problems such as biting and kickingThe salary will be above award in the range of $75,000 to $77,000 per annum depending upon the level of skill.Essential CriteriaA Certificate III or equivalent international qualification, or in the absence of a qualification a minimum of three years professional experience educating and training horsesA minimum of two years experience handling and working with and educating thoroughbred horsesKnowledge and experience of horse training and handling methods specific to thoroughbreds, including foaling, sales and breedingProven ability to train and educate young horsesOral and written communication skills of a level to take instruction; provide information and advice to others and prepare basic reportsSound knowledge of health and safety obligations and demonstrated skills in safe operation of equipment relevant to the training and preparation of racehorsesFor the management positions the suitable applicant will require evidence of managing a team and breeding operationPlease provide a detailed CV with the names and number of two phone referees.
