The position will be based at our head office in Eliza Street Newtown.We offer:Convenient location in NewtownSalary packaging benefits and a competitive salaryFlexible work environmentEasy access to public transport for Sydneys city and transport linksRewarding work making a difference every day to those living with cardiovascular diseaseTo view all of the benefits of working at HRI, please view our Benefits page:main requirements of the Building and Facilities Supervisor role are to:Coordinate the efficient and safe day-to-day operation of The HRI''s building and facilities at Eliza Street, including ensuring that the main building systems are functioning safely and efficiently e.g. security, heating, ventilation and air conditioning, power, water and waste services.Monitor and assess performance of the HRI''s equipment and systems (besides Laboratory equipment), and work with other staff as required.Work closely with the WHS & Laboratory Manager and Biological Facilities Manager to:ensure the appropriate maintenance and performance of The HRI''s scientific laboratories and equipment; andensure new staff, visitors and contractors to the facilities are suitably inducted in the Institute so that they are aware of safety requirements and evacuation procedure.Support the WHS & Laboratory Manager, Biological Facilities Manager and scientists to ensure that all equipment (including scientific research instrumentation) at Eliza Street, HRI''s laboratory and offices at the Charles Perkins Centre (CPC), and any other relevant facilities, are managed according to industry best practice and in compliance with all relevant standards and applicable legislation.Manage day to day contractor activities and ensure routing maintenance is completed as per service agreement.Work with service providers to obtain Annual Fire Safety Statement.Act as a key member of the WHS committee.Previous experience in building management preferably in a scientific/medical research context with knowledge of services such as:- maintenance- procurement- management of sub-contractors cleaning, hydraulics (plumbing[MG2])- security systems- HVAC- cleaningProven ability to think analytically, to identify and solve complex and simultaneous problems.Ability to deliver a professional and responsive service for several different stakeholders.Proven track record in overseeing minor building modifications such as office fitouts etc.Available to work as required, with some early starts, occasional weekends and public holidays in addition to normal duties and willingness to be on-call outside of normal working hours, attending the work site where necessary (HRI has a remote monitoring system which is accessible from computer and mobile devices).Strong technical knowledge and experience managing budgets.Sound Microsoft Office Skills (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint), knowledge of SharePoint and Visio, and experience using BMS, security and asset management systems.Able to communicate clearly, with high-level written and verbal communication skills.A proactive, customer-focused approach.Experience with risk management.Hands-on building maintenance skills.Able to prioritise and multi-task, with strong communication, organisational and administrative skills.Capable of following quality management procedures and company policies.First aid qualifications or willingness to obtain.You are:A self-motivated, energetic and efficient person who enjoys resolving issuesAble to work both independently and as part of a teamProactive and have strong attention to detailSomeone with good organisation skills and the ability to ensure procedures are followedAdaptable, and able to learn new skills and processes rapidlyAble to think both analytically and strategicallyHow to apply:If you wish to apply for this role, please submit your application online via Seek.
