Annually, the RCH has 300,000+ Specialist Clinic appointments, 90,000+ Emergency Department presentations and 20,000 elective surgeries.RCH enjoys high employee engagement and is committed to staff safety and a positive culture through enactment of our Compact.For further Information on RCH is availablehere .2026 General Medicine Fellow (HM27-HM30)Work for Australias Leading Childrens HospitalFriendly and supportive team environmentOngoing training and development opportunitiesAbout the Role:The Department of General Medicine has available Full Time / Fixed Term (either 6 or 12 months) Fellow roles in General Medicine (Part Time may be possible by discussion), commencing 2nd February 2026.This role will provide an advanced trainee/ Fellow of the RACP in paediatrics with experience and training in General Medicine. Depending on seniority and experience, there is the opportunity for the fellow to work as a Junior Consultant, in a supervised capacity. There are excellent opportunities for clinical experience, teaching, research and administration. There is also an opportunity to lead quality improvement projects under the supervision of the General Medicine leadership team.This role also participates in the After Hours Medical Lead roster. This is a leadership role, the fellow will mentor and lead junior medical staff, collaborate with the after-hours team across the hospital, and manage clinical resources to meet the demands of increasing patient acuity across General Medicine and Specialty Units and patient flow challenges after hours.Classification for this position will range from HM27 HM30What youll achieve:Provision of clinical care in the inpatient setting, liaising with other General Medicine, Subspecialty, Nursing and Allied Health teams.In the Night Medical lead capacity: supervising junior trainees, lead ward rounds, attend ward reviews, admit and discharge patients and assist with patient flow throughout the hospital.Provision of clinical care in the outpatient setting including liaising with RCH outpatient units and external providers.Attend and contribute to General Medicine / RCH educational activities, including weekly education, Journal Club, Grand Rounds, Radiology meeting and M&M meetings.You will be allocated and contribute to a non clinical portfolio within the department.Your skills and experience:MBBS or equivalentRegistration with AHPRA and eligibility for medical registration within VictoriaAdvanced Trainee in Paediatrics with exams completedInternational Medical applicants need to have a score of 7 or above in all bands IELTS test.If this sounds like you, click here to view the position description.About the Department:The Department of General Medicine is one of the largest departments at RCH. At any time, a total of 108 staff (Senior Medical, Junior Medical, Nursing, and Administrative) work in the Department. The Department of General Medicine has a range of sub-specialty interests in addition to General Paediatrics and is committed to the delivery of high-quality evidence-based care. There are 3 subspecialty units within it, including Rheumatology, Immigrant Health and Clinical Pharmacology.
