If so, this role is for you!Were looking for a legal practitioner to join the Legal Branch on an ongoing (permanent) basis!Ongoing Clerk Grade 9/10 role based in Martin Place, Sydney CBD.About the RoleLegal Branch includesan innovative and dynamic group of lawyers who provide timely, sensitive and professional advice to the Premier, Ministers and senior members of The Cabinet Office and the Premiers Department (the Departments) on a broad range of legal, legislative and policy issues.The roles will be in one of the Branchs teams that reflect the Departments responsibilities and focuses on:Constitutional and electoral lawIntegrity, accountability and parliamentary mattersInquiries andadministrative lawCommercial, contracts and intellectual property lawInformation and privacy lawAs a Senior Legal Officer, you will contribute to your team and the Branch by analysing diverse and complex legal and policy problems. Your day-to-day work couldinvolve:Providing pragmatic and expert legal advice to staff of the Departments on diverse areas of lawReviewing or drafting various legal documents, including contractsContributing to whole of government policy development, including evaluating and advising on matters to be considered by the NSW CabinetFormulating, evaluating and responding to proposals for legislative reformDelivering and managing legal projects on the Departments prioritiesReporting into the Director, Legal as a Senior Legal Officer you will provide timely professional advice and other support to senior executives, the Premier and Ministers on a broad range of legal, legislative and policy issues.You will also undertake legal and policy analysis, including the formulation and evaluation of legislative proposals, on a diverse range of matters.To learn more about the role pleasereview the Role Description.You. Our ideal candidate.Youre adaptable, resilient and agile.You will have legal qualifications, admission or eligibility for admission as a legal practitioner to the Supreme Court of NSW and hold (or are eligible to hold) a practising certificate.You will have received a first-rate legal training that developed strong foundational legal skills such as in statutory interpretation and drafting.You will have experience in one or more in the following areas of law: public law (in particular, constitutional or administrative law), environmental law, trade practices law, and/or commercial law and contractsYou will operate with a high level of authority in respect to exercising professional judgement on diverse legal, legislative and related policy issues.You will exercise sound judgement and effectively and ethically manage the influence of political issues in formulating strategic legal and policy solutions.You will have well developed organisation skills and a demonstrated ability to work in a high-pressure, high-volume environment with tight deadlines.You will have excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to provide accurate, clear and comprehensive advice in short time frames.We know the value of diverse experiences.
