Working alongside Computer Vision Engineers and Full Stack Developers, this role will lead efforts to deploy and scale high-accuracy, low-latency ML pipelines on Google Cloud Platform. It will also contribute to data engineering, model integration, and the overall system robustness needed to support elite-level AFL tracking deployments.Key ResponsibilitiesEnd-to-End ML/CV system engineeringDesign, implement, and maintain real-time, cloud-based ML pipelines for optical tracking (e.g., ball/player detection, multi-modal fusion)Build and manage cloud infrastructure to support high-throughput video and 3rd party tracking data ingestion, model inference, and event streaming.Contribute to the training and tuning of ML models for live and autonomous sports data captureArchitect and deploy scalable and reliable systems on Google Cloud Platform using containers, Kubernetes, Pub/Sub, and serverless servicesImplement CI/CD pipelines for deploying updates to live systems with high stability and traceabilityMonitor system performance, optimise for latency and robustness, and manage infrastructure costs.Write clean, modular, testable code across the stack (Python, TypeScript, React)Build APIs, data structures, and middleware that integrate computer vision outputs with downstream systems (e.g., analytics dashboards, annotation tools)Work closely with CV engineers to ensure model outputs are integrated and visualised with fidelity.Collaborate with other engineers, product owners, and sports science experts to meet ambitious technical and performance targetsUnderstand and contribute to the ongoing development of Champion Data''s broader optical tracking frameworksSupport deployments to club training facilities and stadium environments.About YouBachelors or Master''s degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or related field (or equivalent experience).5+ years experience in full stack software engineering, with strong cloud (GCP mandatory) and machine learning system deployment exposureDemonstrated experience designing and maintaining real-time ML pipelines on cloud infrastructureProficiency in building and/or maintaining scalable, performant web applications using the Next.js framework is highly desirableFamiliarity with the ML lifecycle: model training, evaluation, versioning, and live deploymentExperience with video and time-series data processing at scaleStrong software engineering skills, particularly in writing robust and maintainable backend codeComfortable working independently and owning large technical domainsPrevious experience in sport, multi-modal data systems (e.g., CV + GPS), or embedded AI products is highly desirable.Tell me more about Champion DataFor over 20 years, Champion data has been at the forefront of delivering sports stats globally.
