Job Description We are currently recruiting for an experienced Legal Counsel to join our team based in Abbotsford. This role will report to management based in Singapore and will require a strong degree of autonomy, so excellent judgment and a commercial & business-oriented mindset are essential to provide sound and efficient advice to our platform leaders and functional teams. LDCs lawyers typically manage their own assignments and are expected to liaise directly with relevant business personnel, handle their own drafting, and not rely heavily on external law firms. When external law firms are involved, this position will supervise their work effectively. Key Responsibilities Review, draft, and advise on all legal issues facing the Australian platforms, including commercial contracts (confidentiality, agency, consultancy, property leases, trading, warehousing, logistics, procurement, offtake agreements, and sale and purchase contracts for various commodities), HR issues, company policies, and other legal matters. Provide ad hoc legal advice to platforms and management on a day-to-day basis. Collaborate with LDCs SSEA regional legal team to manage legal aspects of Australian M&A projects, including asset or entity acquisitions/disposals, and joint ventures, providing legal advice and reviewing transaction documentation. Oversee corporate secretarial matters in partnership with the regional corporate group. Work closely with senior management and key stakeholders to ensure high-quality legal services, legal compliance, and safeguarding against reputational risks. Advise the boards and management on corporate governance issues. Manage the use of external law firms and associated costs in partnership with LDCs legal teams. Experience & Qualifications Minimum 8 years PQE gained in a recognized law firm or an agricultural, food, or commodity company. Proven experience managing multiple projects simultaneously. Strong negotiation skills with stakeholders at local and international levels. Law degree and admission to practice law in any Australian state.
