The Role The Power Systems Team Leader will play an integral part in a team of highly skilled specialists that bring ideas to life for our clients across all types of energy infrastructure. This includes modelling and performance assessment of renewable energy zones, onshore wind farms, solar farms, battery energy storage systems, and synchronous condensers, network planning for transmission and distribution systems, commercial research and development activities, and providing technical advice to a wide range of national and international stakeholders including network owners, system operators, developers, original equipment manufacturers, governments, and regulatory and financial institutions. Here are the key responsibilities: Technical Leadership Lead and oversee complex power system studies including grid connection, system strength assessments, power quality analysis, and transmission/distribution planning. Guide the development and validation of dynamic and EMT models for various technologies including solar PV, wind, battery energy storage systems, synchronous condensers, and hybrid plants. Provide high-level technical input on compliance with the NEM National Electricity Rules (NER), especially regarding Generator Performance Standards (GPS), model validation (R2), and AEMO registration processes. Conduct harmonic assessments and develop mitigation strategies including filter design and control tuning. Lead studies involving control system tuning and interaction analysis for both grid-forming and grid-following inverters. Prepare technical documentation, reports, and presentations for clients, regulatory bodies, and stakeholders. Software & Modelling Utilize power system analysis tools such as PSSE, PSCAD/EMTDC, PowerFactory, DSATools, and scripting in Python or similar for automation and model processing. Oversee model development, integration, and performance evaluation for steady-state, dynamic, and EMT simulations. Project & Stakeholder Management Lead multidisciplinary teams across various locations to meet project milestones on time and within budget. Manage client expectations, project resources, risks, and deliverables across multiple projects.
