The operations include block caving, sub-level caving and open pit and was the first mine in Australia to use the block cave mining method. At our Northparkes site, housing is provided in a mixed house with your own room, and housing costs are subsidized. You will need your own transport between the house and the site. Flights are provided at the beginning and end of the program, as well as for the Christmas break. If you choose to travel to Parkes by personal car, fuel costs will be reimbursed. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is provided to ensure your safety and comfort on the job. Candidates who successfully complete the vacation program will be fast-tracked into our graduate program.This is a 12-week residential program running from December to February, on a roster of 5 days on 2 days off and 4 days on 3 days off working a 8.5-hour day.Our Vacation Program offers you the opportunity to grow both professionally and personally through a range of enriching experiences, including:Gaining hands-on experience through on-the-job learningTaking ownership of real projects with meaningful impactReceiving mentorship from experienced technical leadersParticipating in operational and personal development trainingAbout the roleThe Vacation Student - People & Culture is a developmental position designed to build HR capabilities within the People and Culture team. The role provides hands-on experience in recruitment, employee engagement, and HR systems. Each assignment is supervised by a HR professional, aligning responsibilities with the student''s interests in organisational development and people management.Responsibilities will includeAssisting with recruitment coordination and onboarding activitiesSupporting employee engagement and wellbeing initiativesMaintaining HR records and updating personnel databasesParticipating in training and development program planningHelping coordinate internal communications and eventsConducting research on HR policies and best practicesPreparing reports and presentations for HR projectsAbout youThe ideal candidate is currently enrolled in a in Business HR or a related degree or similar. Ideally you will have some experience with relevant software and systems through studies or placements. You should demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and a ability to communicate effectively across verbal, written, numerical, and graphical formats. You will be able to uphold high work standards, build strong relationships with peers and leaders, and work independently to meet personal and team goals.
