It aims to enhance awareness of Parramatta as a global city and key cultural destination.This role is responsible for leading Council-initiated public art projects across the City of Parramatta Local Government Area (LGA). It also provides expert advice about public art to internal and external stakeholders, assesses public art components of capital infrastructure projects and major private developments, and ensures alignment with Councils strategic objectives. Additionally, it guides and delivers actions in Council''s Cultural Strategy (Creative Parramatta) relating to public art.Key Responsibilities:Manage public art projects and project teams in accordance with project briefs and strategic initiatives. This includes research, curatorial, public art plans, artist briefs, commissioning and procurement processes, budgets, contracts, service level agreements and asset management.Research, plan, and deliver high-level public art projects that align with City Cultures objectives, from concept to completion across various mediums.Provide strategic direction to internal colleagues, external contractors and stakeholders.Review and assess referrals associated for public art associated with capital infrastructure projects and major private developments.Facilitate consultation to develop and manage strategic relationships with stakeholders to positively influence outcomes and processes aligned with the Citys key strategic documents.Provide subject matter expertise on Council-led public art delivered across internal units.Represent Council on panels and committees for internal and external projects.Develop a deep understanding of key strategic and operational documents, including Parramatta 2050, Creative Parramatta, Community Strategic Plan, Creative Economy, Visitor Economy, and Developer Contributions Plans.Facilitate the positioning and promotion of arts, culture and liveability of the City, as required.Work as part of the Cultural Projects team within the City Culture unit of the Community and Culture directorate.Understand and embed the Community and Culture directorates vision and priorities and provide input into the development of policies and operating procedures relevant to the role.Keep abreast of relevant legislation, regulatory standards and processes, policies, and procedures relevant to the role, and provide guidance on related matters as required.About YouWe are looking for someone with:Tertiary Degree level qualification in visual arts, arts administration/management, education or cultural production, creative/strategic project management or related field.Minimum 5 years of experience in developing and implementing public art and/or cultural projectsDemonstrated experience in the curation, commissioning, production and project management of public art projects.Demonstrated experience in successfully working with artists, artisans and fabricators.Demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement, including working with community groups, organisations, businesses and government agencies at a local or state level.Demonstrated experience in managing and undertaking concurrent projects with competing demands.Demonstrated ability to operate in a complex political environmentExperience in the development and implementation of project plans and the management of financial systems and budget control.Strong industry networks throughout the arts, cultural and creative industries sector.Demonstrable knowledge of First Nations cultural and intellectual property rights in the arts.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to negotiate, influence and advocate for effective outcomes.Demonstrable ability to manage conflicting priorities, prepare advice within strict timeframes and make sound judgment in pressured situations.Whats On OfferWe are offering an attractive remuneration from $104,610 to $115,174 plus 12% Superannuation [SB1] .In addition, City of Parramatta also offer excellent employee benefits which include:A range of flexible work arrangements including hybrid WFH arrangements14 weeks paid parental leaveAccess to Long Service Leave after 5 yearsCentral Parramatta location (Public transport at our door, discounted parking)Significant leave benefits (up to 12 days flexi-time, 3 additional leave days at Christmas, 15 days sick/personal leave, 2 days health and wellbeing leave per year)Learning and development opportunitiesHealth and Wellbeing programs (Fitness Passport, flu shots, Flare etc.)Want to know more?Further information regarding the requirements of this role can be found in the attached Position Description .Alternatively, for a confidential discussion please contactSuzanne Buljan, Cultural Projects Manager on email sbuljan@cityofparramatta.nsw.gov.au.How To ApplyCandidates must apply online attaching a cover letter addressing the below 2 questions:Question One: What is your understanding of this position, and its relationship to arts and culture production practices in the Parramatta LGA?Question Two: Tell us about a public art project you were responsible for that was the direct outcome of a strategic document.
