We care for thousands of children each year in our hospitals and in their homes with one purpose in mind to help young people live their healthiest lives.Click here to learn more about our NetworkAdditional InformationAn eligibility list may be created for future permanent full or part time and temporary full or part time vacancies.This position is full time; however, part time/job share arrangements may also be considered.The Sydney Childrens Hospital is Australia''s largest Paediatric health service network and a world-class research institution.Be part of a caring team that aims to provide the best care and service to children in NSW while supporting staff to develop within healthy, rewarding workplaces.This position will be required to work NIGHT SHIFT roster on a regular basis, including weekends and public holidays.A hospital environmental services assistant is a professional who ensures that the hospital is kept clean and to provide a safe clean environment to our patients, families, visitor and other staff.This position is critical to control and prevent healthcare associated infections from spreading and providing a cleaning service to sustain a safe and clean environment.Environmental Services Assistant is responsible to carry out non-clinical duties such as cleaning, moving and transporting patients, restocking supplies, and provide a clean safe environment.You will work in an environment where we tailor education and support based on your expertise and educational requirements. You will have an extensive orientation program. You will have access to personalised development and career opportunities.What You''ll Be DoingThe position will provide support to the nursing team in non-clinical care of the patient regarding patient lifting and transportation. Team member will be on emergency response teams, collection and delivery of specimens, equipment, consumables, restocking of supplies and consumables.Cleaning duties as assigned, may including general cleaning, terminal cleaning of internal areas and external areas. Cleaning according to daily, weekly and periodic schedules.Displays competency in the reading and writing of English to enable required duties to be performed safely and to acceptable levelsDemonstrated previous cleaning and portering experience in a health care facilityDemonstrate an understanding and knowledge of workplace health and safety issuesAbility to work on a variable roster 24/7 if required.Ability to work within a team environment with little or no supervisionDemonstrated ability to work in a manner which preserves patient confidentiality and dignityDisplays a willingness & flexible approach to work requirements and change in work practicesPrevious experience in a similar position in a health care facilitySCHN is an Equal Opportunity Employer that values diversity - we acknowledge the vibrancy that a diverse workforce brings to enhance both our workplace culture and our service delivery to children, young people and their families and carers.
