They supervise and manage inmates in correctional facilities, including prisons and court cells throughout NSW.This is a hands-on role that values common sense, teamwork, and strong communication skills.Your Role Might IncludeKeeping inmates accounted for during daily routines like meals, headcounts, and movementsWatching for safety or security risks and reporting concernsSearching cells or common areas to help keep the environment secureSupervising activities like work programs or visitsTreating people fairly and consistently while enforcing rulesTo find out more, watch our Day in the Life of a Correctional Officer video.We are taking application for the following centres.Silverwater Women''s Correctional Centre - a maximum security institution for women and the major reception centre for female offenders in NSW.Metropolitan Remand & Reception Centre (MRRC) - a maximum security correctional facility for men located in Silverwater.John Morony Correctional Centre - a medium security correctional centre for remand and sentenced male offenders located in Berkshire Park.Geoffrey Pearce Correctional Centre - a minimum security correctional centre for men located in Berkshire Park.Whats in it for you?A comprehensive 12-week paid training course.Base hourly rate of $36.79 per hour in addition to applicable loadingsWork Life Balance and Flexibility - Choose the hours and days that work best for you, and easily fit your job around your other commitmentsEarn a nationally recognized Certificate III in Correctional Practice.Explore exciting career development opportunities into specialized roles.Requirements Of The RoleMinimum age of 18 years oldCurrent drivers licenseAustralia or New Zealand Citizen or Permanent ResidentWilling to complete Certificate III in Correctional Practise.Meet the medical standards to be a correctional officer and have reasonable level of fitness.Body art or modifications on the face, scalp, ears, neck, or hands are prohibited.
