Londonderry Woodland Reserve is a haven for nature enthusiasts!Join us for an exclusive opportunity to safeguard Londonderry Woodland Reserve, a precious oasis of biodiversity on the Cumberland Plain.These events celebrate one of the last remaining fragments of mature grassy woodland vegetation in Western Sydney. Nestled within this sanctuary are ancient trees and rare plants that provide a vital refuge for a rich tapestry of wildlife. From the elusive Little Lorikeet and endangered Cumberland Plain Land Snail to the iconic Boobook Owl and Red-bellied Black Snake, the reserve is teeming with life.Every corner of Londonderry Woodland tells a story of resilience and interconnectedness, with a vibrant understorey of rare herbs, orchids, and grasses bursting into a kaleidoscope of colour throughout the seasons. Rickabys Creek meanders through, not just as a waterway, but as a lifeline and corridor for eastern grey kangaroos and swamp wallabies, linking patches of Cumberland Plain Woodland across the landscape.By participating, you''ll play a pivotal role in protecting this woodland''s future. Activities include weed removal and monitoring threatened species, whilst honouring the "Caring for Country" practices of the Dharug Traditional Owners.This project is proudly supported by the NSW Government''s Saving Our Species Program.Upcoming events:Wed 16 JulyYou are required to make your own way to and from the worksite.No previous experience is required.
