Permanent Up to 1.0 FTE Staff Specialist - Department of Paediatric Emergency - Blacktown and Mount Druitt Hospitals | APPLY VIA ECREDENTIALPermanent Up to 1.0 FTE Staff SpecialistApplications are invited from suitably qualified medical practitioners for the above position(s) in the Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD). This position will be located at Blacktown and Mount Druitt Hospitals within the Department of Emergency Medicine.Successful applicants will have the required skills and training as a Paediatric Emergency Medicine Physician through either ACEM or RACP.Applicants who will receive their FACEM PEM or RACP PEM qualifications within 3 months of this advertisement will be considered for an interview.Suitably qualified General Paediatricians who have more than 12 months recent experience as a consultant in a tertiary Paediatric Emergency Department or more than 12 months recent experience as a consultant in the Paediatric Section of a mixed Emergency Department will be considered for interview.The applicant will primarily undertake clinical duties at Blacktown & Mount Druitt Hospitals Emergency Departments. BMDH Emergency Department is the busiest in the state with a census of over 85,000 patients and a greater than 20% paediatric caseload. The Department is accredited by the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine and has accredited special skill rotations for Registrars. The appointee will provide clinical services to the Emergency Department within Paediatric Emergency Medicine. The appointee will be involved in the direct provision of patient care to all patients that present to the Emergency Department at a level commensurate with that of a Paediatric Emergency Physician (FACEM or FRACP).Conditions of appointment are in accordance with the Staff Specialists (State) Award.Selection CriteriaPlease outline how you satisfy the selection criteria listed below. In addressing the selection criteria, include any relevant skills, knowledge, qualifications and experience:1. Possess or be eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia and hold either:o Fellowship of the ACEM or RACP with additional PEM qualifications (or equivalent as provided for in the Staff Specialists (State) Award.o or Fellowship of the RACP (General Paediatrics) (or equivalent as provided for in the Staff Specialists (State) Award with more than 12 months recent experience as a consultant in a tertiary Paediatric Emergency Department or more than 12 months recent experience as a consultant in the Paediatric Section of a mixed Emergency Department.o Must have Australian Citizenship or Permanent Australian Residency. Must hold a current NSW Environment Protection Authority license (if applicable).2. Sound clinical knowledge in Paediataric Emergency Medicine demonstratedthrough successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position.3. Demonstrated skills and attitudes appropriate for practice as a Senior Medical Practitioner including:o High level interpersonal and communication skills.o Demonstrated ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.o Experience and involvement in quality assurance activities and evidence-based best practice.o Demonstrated commitment to teaching and supervision4.
