Reporting to the Head of Risk and Compliance, you will oversee the delivery of environmental objectives, approvals, and compliance, and collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders to make a meaningful impact on both our business and the environment.You will lead a dedicated team of thirty-four passionate and skilled environmental professionals, based across Hancock Iron Ores Perth, Mine, Port, and Rail operations. Your direct reports will include the Superintendent Rehabilitation and Closure, Superintendent Environment (Mine, Port, and Rail), Superintendent Environment and Approvals, Superintendent Environment Approvals, Biodiversity and Compliance, and the Principal Rehabilitation and Closure.If youre ready to champion innovation, compliance, and continuous improvement - and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of sustainable mining - we want to hear from you.DutiesMentor and develop a high-performing team of environmental professionals, ensuring effective work allocation, capability development, and performance to strategic objectivesFoster strong working relationships across business units to ensure that strategic goals and targets are collectively achievedDevelop and implement environmental strategies, systems, and guidelines aligned with company objectives, and provide leadership and strategic advice on environmental approvals and complianceIdentify, secure, and manage all necessary environmental approvals for Hancock operations, ensuring timely delivery through effective stakeholder engagement and strong relationships with regulatory authoritiesEstablish and maintain robust systems and processes to ensure compliance with all legal requirements, including the management of permits, audit programs, and incident oversightSet and communicate environmental standards, targets, and KPIs, and ensure clear communication of requirements and performance to both internal and external stakeholdersSkills and experienceTertiary qualifications in Environmental Science or a related disciplineExtensive experience in environmental management and/or approvals within the mining sector or a similar industryProven ability to build, lead, and motivate high-performing teams within a dynamic environmentIn-depth understanding of State and Commonwealth environmental legislation, approval frameworks, and compliance management, including auditing systemsDemonstrated experience in developing and implementing Environmental Management SystemsExceptional written and verbal communication skillsPerth ROC FacilitiesFree on-site parking at remote operational centre (ROC)Modern spacious office with break-out facilitiesIn-house caf providing variety of hot & cold food options and barista coffeeFlexi Leave available to all Perth based office staffFlexible working hours outside of core business hoursActive social club with community events and activities for employeesLifestyle, Learning and Recreation initiative which provide events for your familyAbout Hancock Iron OreThe world of iron ore is evolving, and so are we.Atlas Iron and Roy Hill have joined forces to become Hancock Iron Ore, building on our combined strengths of resilience and innovation.Our portfolio of world-class iron ore operations located in West Australias Pilbara region has a strong history of delivering reliable products for our customers in key international markets.
