NoOffer DescriptionFull time, 12 months fixed term, located on the Camperdown Campus at the School of Life and Environmental Sciences (SOLES)Opportunity to make valuable contributions to research in Metabolic diseaseAbout the opportunityThe School of Life and Environmental Sciences (SOLES) is currently seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher inMetabolic Diseases and its Mechanistic Causes to carry out independent research, keeping with the aims of the laboratory and the Charles Perkins Centre (CPC).Your key responsibilities will be to:participate in and continue laboratory research programscarry out independent research that is in keeping with the aims of the lab and the CPCcoordinate a number of research programs and ensure timely completiondevelop and apply methodologies, as the need arises, and teach new methodologies to members of the group and wider university community as neededfoster collaborations to advance research programs within the groupcompete for national and international funding opportunitiesgain peer recognition by presentations at national and international scientific meetingspublish research in high-ranking peer-reviewed journals in a timely mannersupervise honours and PhD studentsto teaching at undergraduate, honours and postgraduate level and pursue opportunities to enhance their expertise in higher educationcontribute to the University''s work of community and alumni engagement and, where appropriate, contribute their expertise and knowledge to broader forums of publicestablish considerable expertise in a unique area such as cell biology, molecular biology, microscopy, small animal experiments, data analysis and disseminating this skill base to other members of the team at CPC as well as external researchers.About youThe University values courage and creativity; openness and engagement; inclusion and diversity; and respect and integrity. As such, we see the importance of recruiting talent aligned to these values and are looking for a PostdoctoralResearch Associate who has:a PhD (or near completion) in biochemistry, or related disciplinesexpertise in performing experiments in small animalsexpertise in brain functionexpertise in in-utero injections for in vivo analysisexperience with cell culture.general expertise in protein biochemistry including proteomics.Expertise in fluorescence microscopy.the ability and a willingness to collaborate in multidisciplinary teams to contribute to long-term research goalsorganisational and problem-solving skills with attention to detaila strong track record of publishing their research.Your employment is conditional upon the completion of all role required pre-employment or background checks in terms satisfactory to the University.
