Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras (SGLMG) is one of the longest continuously operating LGBTQIA+ organisations in Australia. As of 2025, we are 47 years young now is the perfect time to join!We are a not-for-profit, member-based organisation that produces the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade and year-round initiatives celebrating LGBTQIA+ identity, creative expression, and diverse voices.SGLMG was founded by community activists fighting for LGBTQIA+ rights during times of widespread oppression and discrimination. Today, we focus on celebration and social justice for LGBTQIA+ communities.The RoleStrong financial and commercial leadership is vital for our organisation''s success. As Chief Financial Officer (CFO), you will be a key member of the leadership team, working closely with the CEO, Board, and staff to ensure financial sustainability and strategic growth.This role offers an opportunity to lead with purpose, shaping the future of a prominent LGBTQIA+ organisation. You will oversee operations including HR, IT, administration, and facilities management, ensuring smooth organisational functioning.You will collaborate with the Head of Festival on budgets and with the Partnerships team to grow income. You will manage financial reporting to funders and stakeholders, keeping the CEO, Board, and Audit and Risk Committee informed of financial health.Key responsibilities include:Overseeing all financial operations: budgeting, reporting, audits, cash flow, investments, and risk management.Working with the festival team on event budgets and income growth strategies.Ensuring compliance with regulations and internal policies.Leading HR, IT, and administrative functions.Strategic planning and financial forecasting to support organisational growth.Maintaining stakeholder relationships, including community groups, government, and partners.Leading financial reporting to the Board.Promoting a safe, inclusive, and efficient workplace aligned with organisational values.Navigating the festival landscape with innovative financial strategies.Key requirements:CA or CPA qualification.10+ years'' experience in accounting and finance, including strategic leadership.Proven experience in financial reporting to executive and governance bodies.Expertise in financial accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and compliance.Leadership skills in managing teams and developing staff.Experience in HR, vendor management, and operational systems.Proficiency with financial systems (e.g., MYOB, Xero) and financial modeling.Risk management expertise.Track record in growing organisational income, especially from earned revenue.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Experience in community organisations and working with LGBTQIA+ and First Nations communities is preferred.In return:Be your authentic self no masks here.Opportunities for training, mentoring, and development.Diverse working environment.Employee assistance program.Access to SGLMG events and more.SGLMG is committed to diversity, equality, and inclusion.
