Renewals may also be required during your employment in order to comply with specific contractual or legislative requirements.Police Check - every 5 yearsJob Evaluation Number HRC0077062Special MeasuresPosition SummaryThe purpose of the Merchandise Sorter role is to sort and grade donated and recycled merchandise. The role reports to the Team Leader to ensure a consistent supply of quality merchandise that meets Australian Red Cross shop requirements.Position Duties Key Responsibilities / AccountabilitiesAssist the Team Leader to implement and improve quality control processes to meet business objectivesSort and grade donated and purchased recycled merchandise according to set standards and shop requirementsAssess garment quality and suitability and address any quality issues with the Team LeaderWhen required, supervise a team of volunteers and provide trainingWork to volume and category targets set by the Team Leader and provide explanations for any varianceUndertake administrative tasks, including stock control, stock take and reporting on productionAttend orientation, training and meetings when requiredReplenishing stock levels for bulk reserveGeneral storeroom dutiesUnderstand and apply Australian Red Cross retail policies and procedures.Instill a focus on merchandise loss preventionPerform other tasks and activities associated with this role as requiredKey RelationshipsAustralian Red Cross Retail departmentAustralian Red Cross volunteersPerson Requirements Key Behavioural and Technical CapabilitiesStrong eye for fashion and trendsAppreciation of quality control standards and processesDetail-oriented, organized and able to work at fast pace to meet deadlinesExcellent interpersonal and communication skills with ability to build and maintain relationships at all levels and communicate effectivelyAbility to understand and relate to shop needsPhysically able to work in a warehouse environment, including standing for long periods of timeExperienceExperience working both independently and within a team; experience working with volunteers would be an advantageKnowledge of Australian fashion industry and brandsDemonstrated time management skills and dedication to improving efficienciesWellbeing, Health & SafetyIt is our vision to be harm free and committed to providing and maintaining a safe and healthy environment for volunteers, members, staff, contractors, clients, customers, and others who may be involved in our work.
