Required qualifications and conditions are set out in the Magistrates Court Act 1989.Who we''re looking forPractitioners with demonstrated experience in family violence, criminal law and/or Childrens Court proceedings are strongly encouraged to apply.Following appointment, Magistrates if assigned to the Magistrates Court will commence at Melbourne Magistrates Court and thereafter, as assigned by the Chief Magistrate. Magistrates who are intended to commence in the Childrens Court will be assigned by the President of the Childrens Court in consultation with the Chief Magistrate. Magistrates are required to serve at a regional Court for a minimum of two years.The Victorian Government is committed to ensuring that Victorias courts and tribunals reflect the rich diversity of the Victorian community.
