The Companys operations currently involve an integrated system of seven inland mines, more than 1,000 kilometres of rail and two separate port facilities, Nelson Point and Finucane Island at Port Hedland.PositionReporting to the HV & Power Supervisor, your duties as the Technician - Primary Plant & Protection Systems will include:Ensure conformance with the BHP Billiton Charter, the BHP Billiton Group Level Documents, Code of Conduct and relevant statutory obligations.An overriding commitment to health, safety, environment responsibility and sustainable developmentExecute detailed commissioning and maintenance on complex protection and control systemsExecute professional commissioning and maintenance on HV substation primary plantTake responsibility for the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of all network assetsDevelop Work Instructions, Task Lists, Procedures for the Primary Plant/Protection System Assets under control of HV & Power, EasternEnsure safe completion and close-out of Primary Plant/Protection System works on a daily basisExecute critical Shutdowns, ensuring trouble-free maintenance windows and handbackInitiating and / or participating in continuous improvement projectsLiaising with Mine & Town Stakeholders to ensure a safe and efficient serviceAbility to identify problems, implement solutions to manage departmental and company supply chain riskSkills and ExperienceAs the successful candidate, you will possess the following:WA A Grade Electrical Licence essentialHigh level of commitment to SafetyProven maintenance & commissioning experience in a Power Utility environment Protection Systems, Switchyards, Primary Plant essentialProven experience with High Voltage/Protection Systems in a Mining environment highly regardedProficiency with setup, commissioning, and monitoring of various Protection Relay schemes, manufacturers etc. Proficiency with the Omicron suite of Protection Equipment will be highly regardedStrong interpersonal and communication skills are key components of this role as you will work closely with a variety of stakeholdersExperience with computerised maintenance management systems (SAP experience is highly desirable)The ability to apply expertise to analyse and solve problems without clear precedentHigh Risk Work Licence with any/all of WP, CV, LF, Dogging/Rigging endorsements - highly regardedLocationWith this role, you will be fly-in fly-out from Perth to Newman. You will be working on all Eastern Pilbara Mine and Newman Township sites, operating and maintaining the generation, transmission and distribution electricity network within the Pilbara region.
