This is a role where you can bring your skills, knowledge and culture to the forefront and contribute to something powerful!As the First Nations Cultural Mentor you will provide cultural support and mentorship to Aboriginal Youth Wellbeing Workers who are working in remote areas of NSW. Marathon Health considers that being Aboriginal or a Torres Strait Islander is a genuine occupational requirement for this position under s14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW)In-depth knowledge of the challenges facing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, especially in remote areas.Understanding of the unique issues affecting young peoplewhether its around health, education, employment, or social and emotional wellbeing.Hands-on experience working with and supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and a commitment to providing services that are culturally safe and truly responsive.Demonstrated experience working with community stakeholdersfrom Aboriginal Elders to families, ACCOs, ACCHOs, schools, and other grassroots community groups.Proven skills in engaging and communicating with young people (12-25 years) and their familiesbeing a trusted voice they can connect with.A valid Australian Drivers License and the willingness to travel across the ten Youth Outreach Project areas to connect with communities and make an impact.
