Annually, the RCH has 300,000+ Specialist Clinic appointments, 90,000+ Emergency Department presentations and 20,000 elective surgeries.RCH enjoys high employee engagement and is committed to staff safety and a positive culture through enactment of our Compact.For further Information on RCH is availablehere .About the Role:The Department of Gastroenterology and Clinical Nutrition is advertising to recruit a locum junior consultant to cover 2.5 sessions per week as a Consultant Gastroenterologist from 1/12/2025 to 17/7/2026. The Head of Department will negotiate the details of clinical sessions and oncall duties with the successful candidate.You will provide clinical care to paediatric patients with a full range of gastrointestinal, nutritional and liver conditions, including complex tertiary level gastroenterology such as Liver and Intestinal Transplantation. You will contribute to the provision of inpatient and outpatient services (both on-campus and telehealth) and will be involved in the provision of an on-call service. You will collaborate with other services within and outside the RCH to develop a more patient-centred, standardised and sustainable model of care. You will contribute to existing research in collaboration with the key campus partners of the University of Melbourne and the Murdoch Children''s Research Institute with ample opportunity to initiate new research streams will be a key focus of this role.You will be responsible for:Clinical management of the full range of gastrointestinal, nutritional and liver conditions, including complex tertiary level gastroenterology such as Liver and Intestinal TransplantationContributing to the development of models of clinical care for Gastroenterological conditions to enhance the quality of that care whilst maximising efficient use of available resourcesEffective communication with other healthcare providers and consumers, including but not limited to referring paediatricians, family practitioners, junior and senior medical staff, nursing, paramedical, clerical staff, families and patientsAdministration and leadership roles in the department.Your skills and experience:Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP or eligible for FRACP)Fellowship training in paediatric Gastroenterology is essentialDemonstrated capacity to work harmoniously and collaboratively within a team environmentWell-developed interpersonal and communication skillsDemonstrated experience in the care of patients with liver transplantationSpecialist Medical Registration with AHPRAKey selection criteria:Postgraduate training and experience in paediatric gastroenterologyTraining in Paediatric Gastrointestinal Endoscopy approved by the Conjoint CommitteeAbility to effectively interact with colleagues, patients, and families, as well as build and maintain working relationships with internal and external stakeholdersA flexible attitude is crucial, especially with the need to balance sometimes competing and conflicting prioritiesDemonstration of efficient time managementA research qualification eg PhD, MD or Masters in Medicine will be considered favourably.If this sounds like you, click here t o view the position description.What we offer:Salary Packaging - Increase yoour take home pay!Employee Assistance ProgramOther information and how to apply:The appointment is subject to a satisfactory police check and a Working with Children Check.The RCH provides world-class facilities for staff, patients, and families, making it an exciting place to work and progress your career.
