As part of the role, you will perform associated blasting, preparation and painting tasks within the shipyard environment on vessels and associated components / equipment, or other tasks on time, in full and to standard, while striving for continuous improvement. The ideal candidate is responsible for keeping themselves and their colleagues safe as well as maintaining a clean, tidy and productive work environment.Whats InvolvedWater blasting and abrasive blasting of hulls & structuresSanding, masking & de-masking to vessels hulls & structuresFill & fairing ships sides & hull repairsPriming, undercoating, top coating of all paint systems to all surfacesAirless spray painting & pot gun spraying to vessel hulls & structuresBrush and roller paintingConduct fire & confined space watch as required and directed by Supervisor / ManagerEnsuring good housekeeping is practiced and punctuality is maintained.During periods of reduced trade specific works, assist in other trade-based sectors of the business as reasonably directed by Supervisors / ManagersUnderstand, embrace, implement and comply with all Austal Policies and Procedures relating to HSEQYoull needEssentialTrade Certification in Abrasive Blasting / Industrial Coatings or equivalent.Construction White CardExperience in Blasting / Painting in marine industry or heavy industrial.Protective Coatings Quality control.Capable of performing work in a safe and acceptable manner.Demonstrate adequate theoretical knowledge.Ability to use standard tools and equipment related to the trade.Possess good time management skills and ability to meet set targets.DesirableHR Licenses Forklift / EWP / Dogging / RiggingFirst Attack Fire Fighting Training / First Aid / Confined Space / Working at HeightsPrevious experience in Marine / Ship repair or Heavy Industry.Why AustalCompetitive compensation and benefits package.Professional development and training opportunities.A supportive and dynamic work environment.Opportunities for career advancement within our growing organisation.Our global team is guided by a universal set of values that describe the focus of our efforts.
