ANFF is a national network that links eight university-based nodes, providing researchers and industry with access to state-of-the-art fabrication facilities.As Research Officer, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality fabrication services to academic and industry users across Australia. Your primary responsibilities will include the production of specialised glasses, and preforms, transparent ceramics, and maintaining fabrication-related laboratories and equipment; and training staff and students in glass and preform production on behalf of the Optofab Adelaide Hub.The Optofab Adelaide Hub offers world-class specialist manufacturing facilities, operated in collaboration with the Institute for Photonics and Advanced Sensing (IPAS). IPAS is an internationally recognised transdisciplinary research group within the University of Adelaide. It develops cutting-edge technologies using fibre optics and lasers to detect a variety of chemical and biological signals. IPAS serves multiple sectors, including Defence, Environmental Monitoring, Medicine, and Food & Wine.To be successful you will need:Demonstrated ability to promote the organisational values of integrity, respect, collegiality, excellence and discovery, and a commitment to positively comply with the associated behaviour expectations.Demonstrated hands-on laboratory skills or other equivalent manual experience.Experience in a research or science environment (chemistry and materials science preferred).Demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure and deadlines.Intermediate ability to use Word, Excel, PowerPoint programs.Qualifications:Completion of a Degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science or material engineering, or equivalent experience knowledge and skills.Demonstrated relevant experience in any of the aforementioned fields.The path to Adelaide UniversityWe are on an exciting path to Adelaide University as we prepare to open our doors in January 2026.
