For over 46 years, weve been committed to helping the community in all ways, offering culturally appropriate services across the Pilbara. Our programs include alcohol and other drug (AOD) counselling, mental health support, homelessness services, employment and training programs, and a Sobering Up Centre.We pride ourselves on delivering community-led, holistic care to vulnerable individuals and families, particularly within Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Our team is passionate, inclusive, and driven by the desire to create genuine outcomes for the people we serve.Walking Beside Community, Every StepBloodwood Tree Association is looking for a full-time AOD Counsellor based in Hedland, WA.You will be responsible for delivering client-centred AOD counselling and support across the region, reporting to the AOD Team Leader and working collaboratively with a dedicated community services team.More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:Providing individual and group counselling sessions for clients experiencing AOD issuesConducting comprehensive assessments and managing treatment planningFacilitating community education and awareness programsDelivering culturally sensitive care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clientsDeveloping and implementing personalised intervention plansCollaborating with other service providers to ensure coordinated supportAccurately maintaining confidential case notes and reportsParticipating in outreach visits to communities such as Marble Bar, Warralong, and YandeyarraAttending regular supervision (including external supervision sessions)Contributing to stakeholder engagement and service promotion initiativesYour First Few WeeksYour first month will be focused on learning and connection. In the first two weeks, youll receive guided training, observe sessions, and learn the systems and supports in place. By weeks three and four, youll begin engaging with clients and visiting communities alongside experienced team members, while building relationships with stakeholders and local networks.You Bring the Heart Well Bring the MissionTo qualify, you will need a minimum Certificate IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs, Mental Health, Counselling, Social Work or a related field. A minimum of 2 years experience in an AOD, community, or health service setting is essential.Additionally, the following qualifications and experience will be highly valued:Trauma-informed care trainingMotivational Interviewing techniquesHarm reduction and relapse prevention strategiesExperience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communitiesAdvanced data entry and case documentation experienceAs our ideal candidate, you will demonstrate outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, and possess the emotional intelligence to support diverse clients.
