With a workforce of passionate community members, EGSC offers challenging and rewarding skills development and the ability to work with a range of teams across a range of locations.Position overviewThe Building Inspector is responsible for inspecting buildings and swimming pool barriers to ensure compliance with the Building Act, Building Regulations, and other relevant legislation. The role involves preparing reports, issuing notices and certificates, and assisting with enforcement actions where required. The Building Inspector also provides professional advice to builders, internal staff, and the public on building matters. They support the Municipal Building Surveyor in delivering Councils building control functions and maintaining safety standards across the municipality.Your key responsibilities include:Conduct inspections of buildings and swimming pool barriers for complianceIssue building notices, orders, reports and certificates as requiredInvestigate complaints and undertake enforcement of building legislationProvide advice to builders, internal staff and the public on building mattersWhat were looking for:A degree in Building Surveying or equivalent qualificationRegistered Building Inspector or Building Surveyor with the Victorian Building AuthorityStrong knowledge of building legislation, safety standards and codesExperience in inspections, enforcement and report writingExcellent communication and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independentlyIf successful, you will need to undertake a police check and pre-employment medical check.
