Its the kind of role people wait 10 years for (and most never get). Youll step into the driving seat of an established startup thats already profitable, widely loved, and ready to scale with everything in place: the market leader, millions of active users, and a new greenfield platform built from scratch for the modern tech age.Youll report directly to the founder & CEO, lead a small team of exceptional engineers, and shape every layer of how the business builds, scales, and delivers product value to users.If you want unrivaled ownership, technical leadership, and the ability to have an impact that leaves a mark on the business as well as your career, this is the only role for you. Why this role will change your careerGreenfield build: Youll own the full stack and architecture of the new platform, powered by AI (LLM & vector search) connect participants with researchers at huge scale.Youll run the show: Full architecture control, no tech leaders above you, no CTO to be beholden to. Just you, the Founder & rest of the exec team on an even field, with a world class engineering team underneath you.Ridiculous scale, small team: Most startups give you ownership. Big tech gives you scale. This role gives you both, with millions of users and a 6-person eng team youll help grow.Perfect conditions for a rocketship: Profitability, existing market respect, and strategic partners who prefer to integrate rather than compete. This is further than most startups ever get - but in this role, youre joining at the beginning of the J curve, not the end.Equity with real upside: This isnt lottery-ticket equity or an against the odds play. Everything is primed for success, and you are the final missing piece. What youll doLead, grow, and mentor a senior team of engineers (6 now, growing to ~10 by end of 2026).Architect systems from scratch that support high-volume, high-velocity delivery.Guide how and where to apply LLMs, vector search, and smart automation, especially in user-to-researcher matching at scale (thousands at a time).Build a high-trust, high-autonomy culture where everyone owns something and quality runs deep.Partner closely with the founder to shape engineering strategy, direction, and hiring priorities.Stay hands-on (~30% of the time), acting as a Staff engineer to unblock complex challenges when necessary. Their stack (and yours to evolve)Frontend: React (plus some legacy Angular/Vue in the original platform)Infra: AWS (ECS Fargate, Lambda), Terraform, Serverless FrameworkCI/CD: GitHub Actions, Docker, New Relic, Jest, Playwright About the company youll be joiningTheyre building the tech infrastructure powering the user research industry as a profitable, lean,fast growing team.The platform already serves millions of users across 150+ countries, with demand exploding in the current tech & AI enabled era. As a startup, theyre already the world leader, and yet its still early in the overall journey and their potential.With a team of ~30 across Australia, USA and Asia - including engineers and operators from companies like Immutable, Euc etc, this is the most ambitious chapter of the journey so far, and they want you to play the lead role.The pace they move at, the quality of decisions they make, and the clarity they expect from one another all benefit from being in the room together, and as such, this is an office first role in the Sydney CBD.Please note this role is full-time in office.
