The team deliver WHS strategy, wellbeing programs and advice to manage operational hazards, including psychosocial hazards, across the department. The team also support the department to achieve compliance with health and safety related legislation, policies, and guidance established by regulatory bodies.The opportunityThe Senior Safety and Wellbeing Advisor is responsible for facilitating a high standard of safety management and compliance with standards and enabling and supporting psychosocial safety and wellbeing programs. This involves providing timely and effective support for managers and employees through the provision of safety and wellbeing advice, policy guidance and continuous improvement of wellbeing initiatives, the Departments WHS Management System (WHSMS) and other WHS and wellbeing related projects. The Senior Safety and Wellbeing Advisor will also demonstrate a high level of competency regarding risk management, regulatory engagements, incident investigation, hazard management, audits, and stakeholder management.Whats in it for you?The Department provides a dynamic and interesting environment for WHS practitioners working across a broad range of business areas undertaking unique and interesting work. What you will doResponsibilitiesThe Senior Safety and Wellbeing Advisor will, under limited direction, be responsible for any of the following areas listed below. This role is part of a collaborative team where members bring unique strengths. We welcome applicants with experience in WHS compliance in conjunction with wellbeing programs to:ensure compliance with departmental policies and procedures and relevant Commonwealth legislation across WHS and wellbeing,review and advise on incident investigation and risk management activities, including monitoring, analysing and reporting WHS and wellbeing data to identify trends, emerging issues and improvement opportunities,proactively contribute to the development, implementation and review of the WHSMS framework to ensure legislative and regulatory compliance, including the departments Wellbeing Strategy and due diligence arrangements,provide expert WHS, psychosocial safety and wellbeing advice and support, including psychosocial safety risk assessments, to build manager and employee capability and enable continuous improvement,develop and maintain WHS and wellbeing learning and educational activities and programsmanage the departments Child Safety framework,develop and manage employee support programs and initiatives to support physical, emotional and/or psychological employee wellbeing e.g., Employee Assistance Program, Safe Work Month, wellbeing program, vaccination programs, workstation assessments,manage WHS wellbeing networks e.g. Health and Safety Representatives, First Aid Officers and Workplace Contact Officers,develop and maintain strong internal and external relationships and represent People Branch and safety and wellbeing in a positive manner.EligibilityA current security clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain clearance at the Baseline (Protected) level is required.Australian Citizenship is required for this role.NotesLocation in Canberra, Brisbane, Sydney, or Melbourne.
