The Unaccredited Surgical Trainee will provide care for General Surgery patients at Blacktown and Mount Druitt Hospitals, under supervision of Consultants and RACS accredited trainees. We consider both full-time and part-time positions and will provide after-hours support for the surgical roster, covering nights, evenings, and weekends. MBBS or equivalent, currently registered with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category. Minimum of 3 years postgraduate experience, including at least 12 months surgical experience in an Australian public hospital (not as an observer), with a commitment to Surgical Education and Training with RACS. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with patients, families, and healthcare team members. Strong organisational and time management skills to handle competing priorities in a complex environment. Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety, and risk management. Evidence of ongoing professional development and self-education. Competency in assessing common surgical pathologies and performing relevant procedures (e.g., intercostal catheter insertion, line insertions, abscess drainage). Willingness and ability to work at facilities within the Network, participate in 24-hour shift work, and deliver patient care. Need more information?
