Add expected salary to your profile for insightsMungabereena Aboriginal Corporation is seeking to appoint an Aboriginal Cultural Advisor who will be responsible for supporting the development, endorsement, implementation and review of cultural plans for vulnerable Aboriginal children and young people living in out-of-home care. The Advisor supports the development of cultural plans by care teams, assessing and providing support where needed. This position also supports child protection practitioners and contracted case managers.This is an Aboriginal Designated Position, classified under ''special measures'' of section 12 of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010. Only Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people are eligible to apply.Mungabareena Aboriginal Corporation is a Community Controlled Organisation and provides a range of services for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people living within the Ovens Murray region.In this key role you will be responsible for but not limited to:Develop processes and protocols for making and receiving client referrals and information.Facilitate and coordinate access to a broad range of support services and opportunities.Promote and increase awareness of Aboriginal cultural activities for children and young people in the community.Provide specialist knowledge to care teams, including complex matters in developing and reviewing cultural plans.Assist care teams to ensure cultural plans meet the cultural needs of vulnerable Aboriginal children and young people whilst reflecting best interests principles as primary consideration for all child protection planning.Work with children and their families to obtain information and develop plans.Monitor, analyse and review cultural plans.Establish and maintain effective working relationships ongoing communication and successful negotiations with child protection and key stakeholders.Support and convene an advisory group working with participants from appropriate partnerships and networking agencies.Key selection criteria:Diploma in Community Services or higher qualificationA qualification or experience in Aboriginal contexts.A Certificate III in Community Services/Welfare Studies and/or relevant experience.Current Drivers Licence.Current Victorian Working with Children Check.Providing Conformation of Aboriginality (COA)Current National Police Check CertificateApplicants who have lived overseas for 12 months or longer during the past 10 years are required to provide the results of an international police check.
