Wollongong City Council is seeking enthusiastic and responsible individuals to join our Lifeguard Services team as Casual Pool Lifeguards. Work across eight aquatic facilities within our local government area and help us create a safe, welcoming, and enjoyable environment for all members of our community.Play a key role in supporting Council''s commitment to promoting active and healthy lifestyles through quality recreation facilities. Your role will include:Proactively patrolling pool decksto ensure patron safety and reduce potential risks and hazards.Maintaining a friendly and professional presence, with a strong focus on customer service and clear communication.Performing manual tasksrelated to pool cleaning and facility upkeep-physical fitness is essential.Being flexible and availableto work across multiple locations, including weekends and evenings, with shifts between 5:00 am and 7:00 pm, Monday to Sunday.This is a casual position, and staff may be called upon at short notice to help cover staff leave and unexpected absences. The role offers a competitive hourly rate starting from $38.09, plus 25% casual loading (if applicable).Under Part 2, Section 6 of the Child Protection (Working With Children) Act 2012, this position has been designated as requiring a paid NSW Working With Children Check.The recruitment process will include a medical assessment and a mandatory practical physical testing. The practical is anticipated to take place on 20 & 21 August 2025 and interviews anticipated on the 28 August 2025. Mandatory induction date commencing 20 September 2025.How you''ll make a differenceAs a valued member of our Lifeguard Services team, you will:Keep our community safeby actively supervising pool areas and surrounding grounds to ensure compliance and prevent incidents.Maintain a clean and welcoming environmentby upholding high standards of hygiene throughout the facility.Support water quality and plant operations, helping to ensure our pools meet all regulatory standards.Deliver exceptional customer servicewith a friendly, professional approach to every interaction.Stay on top of documentation, including reports, checklists, and incident records to keep everything running smoothly.Champion child protection and workplace safety, following all protocols to create a secure space for everyone.Work collaborativelywith fellow staff, schools, swim clubs, contractors, and other stakeholders to support a vibrant and inclusive aquatic community.About youYou''re a proactive and safety-focused team player who thrives in a dynamic environment.
