The Quality and Risk Manager plays a key leadership role in ensuring excellence in clinical governance, compliance, resident-centred service delivery and continuous improvement across the residential aged care facility. This position supports the safe, effective, and person-centred delivery of care by embedding systems that uphold the Aged Care Quality Standards, enhance resident outcomes, and maintain accreditation readiness at all times.With a strong focus on clinical risk, service delivery outcomes, and organisational compliance, this role supports teams to operate within a robust clinical governance framework and fosters a culture of accountability, learning, and resident safety.EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLSTertiary qualification in Nursing, Health Science, Aged Care Management, or equivalent.Minimum 3 years'' experience in quality, risk, or clinical governance roles in aged or health care.In-depth knowledge of the Aged Care Quality Standards, clinical governance principles, and accreditation frameworks.Proven experience in audit preparation, clinical data analysis, and compliance reporting.Highly developed interpersonal skills to be able to establish cooperative working relationships with facility managers, clinical managers and the broader team.Current registration with AHPRA.Internal Auditor or Quality Lead certification.Experience with aged care software (LeeCare).Training in RCA, DUTIESClinical Governance:Implement and maintain an effective clinical governance framework that promotes safety, quality, and continuous learning.Monitor clinical performance indicators such as pressure injury rates, medication errors, falls, infections, and restraint use.Collaborate with clinical leaders to evaluate the effectiveness of care planning, assessments, and clinical decision-making.Provide guidance in managing clinical incidents, adverse events, and RCA (root cause analysis) reviews.Support evidence-based practice and policy updates in line with best practice and legislative changes.Accreditation & Compliance:Lead preparation for external audits and site visits by the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission.Maintain ongoing accreditation readiness by ensuring evidence, documentation, and processes are up-to-date and aligned with the Aged Care Quality Standards.Assist with organisational policies and procedures ensuring compliance within the relevant legislationConduct audits and gap analyses to identify non-conformances and implement corrective actions.Support compliance with SIRS, restrictive practices legislation, infection control standards, and resident rights under the Charter of Aged Care Rights.Ensure facility and hospitality services, including cleaning, laundry, and catering, meet resident and regulatory standardsQuality Improvement:Oversee the internal audit schedule and monitor outcomes for continuous improvement.Maintain the Continuous Improvement Register and ensure action items are followed through.Analyse trends in clinical data, complaints, and feedback to proactively identify improvement opportunities.Lead regular Continuous Improvement and Clinical Governance Committee meetings.Maintain and review the facilitys Risk Register, including clinical and operational risks.Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies to ensure resident and staff safety.Coordinate reporting and follow-up of incidents, near misses, and hazards using risk management systems.Ensure emergency preparedness and support outbreak management planning in collaboration with IPC Leads.Ensure the facility meets all legislative, regulatory, and food safety obligations.Leadership & Capacity Building:Mentor and guide clinical and care staff to understand their role in quality and governance.Facilitate ongoing staff education around clinical safety, documentation, risk management, and quality systems.Promote open disclosure, reflective practice, and continuous professional development.Build strong working relationships with staff, residents, families, and external stakeholders.OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETYPerform duties to work in accordance with the rules, regulations and guidelines of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Havilahs Occupational Health and Safety policies.Become familiar with Havilahs emergency procedures.Promote safety awareness in the workplace.Report concerns and safety issues to the Director of Care if unable to correct.Fill in incident report forms as required and report all incidents to the Director of CareInform the Director of Care of any maintenance required on equipment used in the performance of your work.Actively participate in the Havilah OH&S Committee at a management level, contributing to the ongoing development and review of workplace
