Reporting to the Senior Manager Strategy and Policy within the Strategy and Engagement portfolio, you will lead the development of strategic advice and programmatic approaches aligned with national priorities, including the Australian Government''s response to the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety.This role is ideal for someone with deep expertise in aged care policy, a strong grasp of the Australian health system, and a passion for improving outcomes for older Australians. You''ll work collaboratively across WAPHA portfolios and with external stakeholders to translate complex policy into actionable strategies, support general practice in aged care settings, and drive innovation through multidisciplinary models of care, digital enablement, and quality improvement.You will also represent WAPHA in key forums, contribute to submissions and briefings, and lead the Aged Care Strategic Advisory Group. Your ability to think strategically, communicate effectively, and manage complex projects will be critical to your success.Employment Type: Full-time Maximum term contract for 2 years Salary: Band 6 ($140k-$150k Plus 12% Superannuation)Key tasks and responsibilities:Lead the development of strategic advice and program strategies aligned with aged care reform and national health priorities.Translate complex policy and research into actionable recommendations for commissioning and implementation.Provide expert guidance on aged care models including residential, community, palliative, and end-of-life care within primary health settings.Coordinate WAPHA''s Aged Care Strategic Advisory Group and contribute to cross-functional collaboration across portfolios.Support general practitioners working in aged care facilities through strategic advice and program support.Maintain up-to-date knowledge of aged care policy, evidence, and government guidance to inform WAPHA initiatives.Develop and maintain strategic relationships with internal teams, government departments, aged care providers, and other stakeholders.Prepare high-quality communication materials including reports, submissions, briefings, and presentations.Represent WAPHA in external meetings, committees, and reference groups.Apply project management principles to oversee aged care activities, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and timelines.To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following selection criteria:Essential experience and educationTertiary qualifications in a health-related field.Strong knowledge of the Australian health policy landscape, with a focus on aged care and primary health care.Proven ability to critically analyse research, academic literature, and policy frameworks, and translate complex information into practical advice.Demonstrated experience in preparing high-quality submissions, reports, briefings, and correspondence.Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders including general practice, health services, community organisations, and consumers.Collaborative team player with a track record of contributing positively to team dynamics and outcomes.Experience working with culturally diverse groups, particularly Aboriginal people (Preferred)Understanding of approaches to commissioning effective health services (Preferred)What we offerHybrid working arrangement that combines remote work from home with office presence in our modern Subiaco office.Commitment to employee development.Salary packaging - WAPHA''s arrangement allows for a maximum of $15,900 for general living expenses and $2,650 for entertainment benefits per fringe benefit tax year.Employee Assistance Program.Additional paid parental leave.Gifted paid day off during Christmas shut down period.Annual $200 health and wellbeing reimbursement scheme.All employees have access to LinkedIn Learning.Study leave options available.Option to purchase additional leave.13 weeks long service leave after 10 years of continuous services (accessible on a pro-rata basis after 7 years).To ApplyPlease submit your application by clicking the ''Apply'' button.Your application should include your CV.
