As Manager, Business and Governance, you''ll lead a dynamic unit that supports our people, systems, and structures --empowering impactful environmental work across the Hills and Fleurieu region.This role sits on the Executive Leadership Team, contributing to strategic direction, supporting the Board, and enabling performance and compliance at every level of the organisation.As the Manager Business and Governance, you will:Lead and develop a high-performing team across governance, finance, procurement, and HR functions.Provide strategic, risk-based advice to the Board and Executive on business planning, workforce, and WHS.Oversee the development and implementation of key policies, risk registers, compliance frameworks, and internal controls.Drive the delivery of core business processes including annual business planning, statutory reporting, audits, and financial forecasting.Manage people and culture functions, including workforce planning, employee relations, and return-to-work coordination.Support the Work Health and Safety Committee and ensure WHS legislative compliance.Build strong relationships across government and stakeholder groups to align systems and share best practice.Provide high-level executive support to the Board and its committees, particularly the Risk and Performance Committee.About you:You are an experienced leader with a track record in driving high-performing teams and business excellence.You have deep knowledge across governance, finance, HR, WHS, and risk management in a public sector or similar environment.You bring strong judgement, strategic foresight, and a solutions-focused mindset to complex operational challenges.You are a confident communicator, able to present to senior stakeholders, facilitate across teams, and lead with clarity and purpose.You have a strong understanding of how Boards and government function, including relevant legislative and governance frameworks.You are relationship-driven, collaborative, and thrive on building systems that empower people and performance.If you''re ready to shape a culture of integrity and effectiveness in support of South Australia''s landscapes --we''d love to hear from you.The details:Located in Mount Barker, South Australia.Remuneration:ASO8 - $121,107 - $125,679 per annumWhat we offer:Flexible Work: Hybrid work options, including work-from-home flexibility.Supportive Culture: Be part of a values-driven team committed to community, conservation, and learning.Salary Benefits: Enjoy SA Government salary sacrifice options and strong leave entitlements.Special conditions:This role has been designated a Position of Trust pursuant to the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework and requires a satisfactory National Police Clearance.A current C class driver''s licence is essential.Some out-of-hours work, travel, and fire management participation may be required.Australian residency or a current work permit is required (applicants must provide evidence).Desirable:A tertiary qualification in leadership, business, public sector management, accounting, finance or economics is highly desirable.How to apply:For further information and the Role Description please visit IWorkForSA.Applicants must apply through www.iworkfor.sa.gov.au via vacancy number: 687524 and submit a current CV and letter of application (maximum 3 pages), addressing their suitability to the role with reference to the "selection criteria" outlined in the Role Description.Applicants are to submit a completed Pre-Employment Declaration as part of their application.Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are strongly encouraged to apply.About Hills and Fleurieu Landscape BoardThe Hills and Fleurieu Landscape Board is one of nine regional boards supporting South Australians in managing soil, water, biodiversity, and pests.
