We use gas, diesel and solar technologies to provide power across the Territory.Your New RoleThe Mechanical Tradesperson will provide a high level of technical expertise in mechanical maintenance, performing preventative and corrective maintenance activities and modifications of complex engine and electricity generation equipment associated with critical power generating plant operating on natural gas and diesel fuels.Your accountabilities include:Carry out duties in accordance with Territory Generations safety, environmental and quality policies, safety principles, corporate values and strategies.Work within Territory Generations Safe Systems of Work (SSoW) processes and procedures.Maintain gas/diesel reciprocating engines and electricity generation equipment.Manage and investigate critical plant emergency incidents, complete plant failure/condition technical reports and efficiency assessments.Comply with manufacturers and Territory Generation procedures and recommendations for maintenance activity.Contribute to the development and maintenance of site records to ensure accurate historical information for maintenance purposes, including use of the maintenance management system and time confirmation of all tasks.Undertake typical housekeeping duties.Participate in an on-call roster and travel to other stations when required. Carry out duties in accordance with Territory Generations safety, environmental and quality policies, safety principles, corporate values and strategies.Your skills & experience:Mechanical Fitter or Diesel Mechanic trade qualifications with equivalent technical work experience on large reciprocating engines.Current full NT drivers licence or ability to transfer.Extensive experience in maintaining gas/diesel reciprocating engines (Man Diesel and GE Jenbacher knowledge highly desirable).Demonstrated ability to perform detailed fault-finding on industrial gas turbines and large reciprocating engines, isolate multiple energy sources and work within permit to work systems.Ability to read and interpret technical documents, drawings and procedures.Strong problem solving skills to enable resolution of administrative, operational or maintenance issues.Proficient computer skills for the effective use of information technology, records, spreadsheets and computerised maintenance management systems and ability to learn and operate computer based maintenance, stores and office management systems.Demonstrated competency in the area of work place safety and commitment to safe work practices.Be self-motivated, possess an excellent work ethic and have the flexibility to work under pressure in a small team to meet deadlines and achieve operation strategic objectives. A demonstrated ability to learn with a strong continuous focus on self-progression.Desirable skills & experience:Minimum 3 years experience in maintaining large reciprocating engines.High Risk Licences (CSE, forklift, working at heights, EWP), current senior first aid or ability and willingness to obtain.Current gas fitter type B certification.Contractor management and supervision experience.This is an ongoing role and requires Australian Citizenship or other eligible visa type.
